Hi all,

Hope you guys all doing well

I've found the new firmware for Yamaha NU1X but not for NU1, may I know if anybody has ever flash the NU1X firmware into NU1 with no problem at all?

Will this also change the piano sound to NU1X too?

Thank you very much

Firmware updates always carry a small risk of bricking an device, be that a computer, a phone, a testing instrument, or a digital piano.

Firmware from a different device would increase bricking risk. Sometime a device can be unbricked by the user or a professional but sometimes that is not possible, hence the technical term brick.

No, you cannot flash the NU1X firmware into the a decade older NU1, as the latter probably doesn't even have rewritable flash memory.

And you can never change the piano sound, as it is not stored inside rewritable memory on any model.

To the latter half of this statement, the NU1 does in fact have firmware updates available. However, the latest version with the loud note fix isn't public (or at least not widely available). Yamaha support will send it to you if you email and ask, though.

And yes, it is a different firmware version (and different update process) than the NU1X loud note fix.
