Hi,

I've been looking for a piano for some time. I tried FP-10 and PX-S1000 previously and had sort of problems with them. FP-10 had strange loudness problem and PX-S1000 was rattling when playing. Overall I tried Korg C1 Air later which looked and fitted to living room really well. Sadly it was also defective, underneath was rattling and one key was clicking loudly. Now... not sure if I had just a bad luck or I expect too much. Anyway... I tried to look for replacement. Here're my candidates:

1) Yamaha S54 or YDP 164
2) Roland F140R
3) Kawai KDP 110
4) Give Korg C1 Air another try

They're all almost the same price, with Korg being cheapest.
I am looking for good action, decent sound, some sort of getting audio into to DP without mixer from pc/tablet/phone (aux in, usb interface).

Kawai and Roland already have some years and might see refresh very soon. I saw people say Yamaha's GH3 is not really good and v. heavy, but sadly I do not have any shops around me where I could test it. I liked Korg's action the best so far probably (longer pivot was nice compared to casio's...). Roland was decent as well but both seem to be heavier than my teacher's acoustic action.

Any opinions about those listed models, or some ideas what to buy else?
I already checked prices of used Fp-90 or P515 but damn people in my country want to sell them for almost same price used as shop price...

Without knowing what country you're in, what brand/models are available or how much they usually sell for, it's difficult to say anything helpful.

Your post said "cabinet do $1500USD" but you mentioned the $599 Casio PX-S1000 so I'm a bit confused. Have you tried the Casio 870, which is a cabinet model that retails for around $899? There are some recent posts about that model.

I have the Korg G1 Air which is very similar to Korg C1 Air and I have had it one year playing 2 hours per day and there is
no problem with any rattling or clicking keys-- it is very good piano with great sound and I like the
action very much - firm but not as heavy as the GH3
I would give the Korg C1 Air another try

Hello mooki,

May I ask where you are based?

I cannot speak for Roland, however the KDP110 will not be receiving a refresh in the near future.

Kind regards,

Thanks for replies. I am from Poland and prices here are a bit different. Just to give more context I'll convert them to USD:

1) Yamaha S54 or YDP 164 - ~1025USD
2) Roland F140R - ~ 950 USD
3) Kawai KDP 110 - ~933 USD
4) Give Korg C1 Air another try - ~895USD

I also found a new Kawai CN27 (cheaper because it has been replaced by CN29) which cost 1150 USD

@djvu: I tried slab pianos first and just came to conclusion living room has just become cluttered as heck and I need something in cabinet form to at least look nice.

@RobG, yeah, I suppose it was because it was a b-stock item and it seemed either had factory issue or was not packaged properly and something happened to it frown Overall it was quite nice and slim and I really enjoyed long pivot key where it was quite easy to play back of the keys.

@Kawai James: Thanks for info. I am wondering how much difference there is between KDP110 and CN27? I suppose I could stretch my budget if CN27 would be better and for example last me more. Looking at specs other than different keybed I do not see anything spectacular.

There's a thread on page 2 about the PX-870; it is an attractive console, not a slab.

The CN27's Responsive Hammer III keyboard action and Progressive Harmonic Imaging sound engine are superior to that of the KDP110. There are various other functions/settings that are not found on the KDP110.

Given the choice between the two, I would opt for a CN27.

For a side-by-side comparison, please use the following link:

(enable the "Show discontinued series/models option" in order to see the CN27)

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,
James
