Suggestions: soft cover for P-515?

Suggestions: soft cover for P-515? - 08/13/19 11:07 AM

Greetings. I am fishing for a recommendation of a nice looking soft cover for my home-bundle P-515. They threw one of those black spandex stretchy ‘sleeves” in the bundle, but I’d prefer something a little more substantial.

P.S., I've seen this one. It's a possibility but looking for other options.

I know you want a soft cover but this plastic cover is also an option. That’s what I bought.

Yamaha Dust Cover for 88-Key keyboards

although it looks like the 88 key size is out of stock at the moment.

I'd consider that to be 'soft' - if it was in black w/white logo I'd go for it! Never occurred to me that Yamaha had one.

I assume you could cut a slit for the music stand?

I use it with the P-515 furniture stand and didn't need to cut it but it is fairly thin plastic and should be easy to cut.

I have the furniture stand as well. Don't you need to take the music stand off for the cover? That Clairevoire has a slit, it will drop right around it.

You can drape this cover over the music stand, as shown here:

It's a little more difficult if you leave books on the music stand but it still drapes over the top. You could cut it to fit better.

These products you posted look like giant rip-offs. 30 bucks?!! Get a table cloth from dollar-store it has better quality! You only need to cut it properly.

If you want something neat, you can make it yourself. I did it for my previous Casio PX-150 and it is super easy. You need some glue (maybe an iron). If you have a sewing machine you can use nylon threads and it will turn out nicer.

This is what I call a cover:

I paid $13.48 for the Yamaha cover. I like that it is plastic and has the Yamaha logo on it. I guess if you value your time at next to nothing, you can make your own cover.

Exactly, just a table cloth. Or a full size bath towel.

I'm really sorry and I know I shouldn't probably say it but the cover you bought is still inferior to dollar-store $1 table cloth (my sincere apology).

It took me about 30mins to make my own dust cover. The video I posted is very complex and detailed. You need to remove 4 squares out of the corners of a table cloth and glue them with a heat gun, then you can put an unused fabric and iron the seams.

LOL, my cover is fine. I don’t have time to mess with making one and I don’t own a heat gun, or a sewing machine.

Bankers don’t have others wash and iron their shirts because they can’t wash and iron, they do it because they can make more money doing something else. I’d rather spend that time playing an instrument, or running, or reading, but to each his own. “Time is what we have the least of.” - Hemingway.

I've made my own in the past...too easy. I bought one of these for a P105 I own. Not sure if they're available outside of the UK though.

Actually, I like your idea about bath towels :P never thought about it MacMacMac!

Now, if you want to shed some money on a cover I like these Gator covers. You can tighten the bottom of it it may look aesthetically nicer than a plain plastic throw...

And the idea to have the cover costume made is not that someone is cheap or too much time at hand, it is the aesthetics and the functionality of the cover that matter.

There is no plastic cover that sits nicely on your keyboard unless it is made for that keyboard.

You want the look, you should do it yourself.

Cheers.

As I said, I already have a spandex cover, it was part of the piano bundle. It harkens back to my britches during the big-hair band gigs in the 80's, I was hoping for something more... classy.
