Modify pedal to catch bass - 01/30/16 12:18 AM
I was having a problem "catching" a bass note at a chord change and then going up to a chord.
I figured it was my poor pedal control but I compared it to the pedal on my upright and found that the acoustic pedal starts sustaining almost right away with just a small pedal depression and holds the sustain for most of the pedal travel.
The Yamaha FC4 pedal that came with my P255 didn't start sustain until almost all the way down. I took it apart (9 screws) and bent the little tab on the micro switch up so the it's actuated much sooner. It's now much easier to "catch" a bass and feels more like my acoustic.
