Hi,
Can anyone give me a clue where I should start with Elissa Milne books? I'm not sure if I should buy "Getting to Grade One" or "Getting to Preliminary". I'm guessing that the "Preliminary" is for an absolute beginner??

I have completed "Alfreds Adult All-in-one Level One" book. And I am currently working through "Alfreds Level Two" book.

Can anyone give me a clue how Elissa's books compare to Alfred's and which level I should start at?

Thankyou in advance for your suggestions.

Marigail.

I find the Alfred books hard to grade definitely, especially book 2 which has quite a wide range of difficulties. Personally I went from some pieces I liked from AIO book 2 and some from book 3, then started on traditional grade 3 pieces without too much problem. By my faulty logic, you should be looking at Elissa Milne - Getting to Grade Two ( or Three). You will no doubt find Elissa Milne books in Sydney music stores, and I would get a second opinion from the staff there.

Starting with material that is a little bit easy can be a confidence boost.
