Ah... we dont have lessons every week and then we go down this road we spend about 20 minutes in a lesson choosing a pieceas I am big mr fuzz pot. I dont think is is a great use of lesson time so I normally bring the piece. I played scarlatti cat fugue and learning elergie rachamonioff so I find it better lilke this way. I also dont have very good knowledge of musicians so find suggestions helpful. I did find a nice Schumann piece in abott 5 mins with pianoworld forum so it was good
The Schumann Arabesque is a lovely piece. And some movements of Kriesleriana are approachable.
I'm a huge fan of Arabesque, too (submitted it to one of the online recitals a year ago or so). Beautiful, with lots of variety (despite the repetition of the arabesque itself), somewhat challenging but quite playable.
I am working on Knecht Ruprecht which I call "Bad Santa." My teacher suggested thinking of it as a technique exercise and then left town for a summer gig, leaving me and Bad Santa with a substitute for a few weeks. Then I went away for a few weeks, then the substitute went away for a few weeks, leaving me and Bad Santa on our own.
