hi everyone,
I wanna play a competetion soon and have hard time choosing a program.
right now I try to decide which of chopin ballades should I play
The first or the forth?

I know this is beyond unhelpful...but, um, whichever fits you best...I mean, it's better to play a less difficult piece with competence than to slightly struggle...master *one*; the one you're best at now, would be my advice. Um...sorry I can't just tell you to do one or the other laugh

For a competition, you play what you can play the best. For an audition, you play what shows what you can do.

At the last Chopin competition both were played in equal numbers, 20 times each.

So it boils down to your personal preference. Play whichever one you would enjoy more playing.
