(Btw: I currently live in a place that's basically one big room)

1. Boil water, pour over teabag.
2. See piano. Start practising.
3. Forget tea.
4. Get up and discover tea is now cold tar.
5. Grumpy Sibylle.

Every. Single. Time.

Does this kind of thing happen to anyone else? grin

At least that’s still drinkable when it’s cold! Or you could pour it over a scoop of vanilla icecream laugh

Usually my 'tea-type problem' is noticing that the sun is shining so I'm going to go out, but first I'll just play this - and then this etc. and it's then either gone dark or, living here in wildest Brittany, started raining.

For me, even when I'm not going to practice, I'll make about two or four cups of tea, drink one or two, and promptly forget to drink the rest.

I don't drink black tea, so never really had an issue. No exams in my life either, fortunately!

If you want proper tea, and not just water that was poured over a teabag (sorry Sybille), but only wish to drink one cup at the time, and not a whole pot of tea, here is how you do it.

1. Put 2 tsp of loose leaf tea in a little can
2. Boil water, pour into the can and cover
3. Put your iphone on 4 minutes
4. See piano. Start practising
5. Turn off you iphone when it starts to ring and just keep on playing
6. Get up and discover tea is now tar.
7. Grumpy Animisha

But if you would not simply turn off you iphone, and instead pour the tea through a filter into another little can, you would have concentrated tea in this can. Now, whenever you feel like a cup of tea, boil water, add some of the concentrated tea so it is as strong as you like it, maybe add some milk and sugar, and start practising again drink a lovely cup of tea. cool

Well, this is a little known fact, microwave ovens were invented specifically to enable the quick reheating of cold cups of tea...

Hahaha, you've obviously never been to Ireland grin What people call "tea" here looks more like the dust that accumulates where tea used to be stored. This is scooped up into tea bags and sold, it's strong as tar and I avoid it like the plague!

Having said that, my favourite cafe serves loose tea, and I have loose tea at home too. But the rest of the time, I use teabags (the rooibos, eco kind) smile

Maybe the Irish should invent potato-based tea! wink

I never drank real tea until someone gifted me an assortment from Harney & Sons. I will admit it’s quite a bit better. In fact, I think I’ll make some now! Then off to my weekend piano scale practice - hope I don’t forget about it!!!

Loose tea is *so* much better! It's what I discovered and fell in love with as a teenager. It was quite a shock at first when I came to Ireland, haha.

Oh, I get to post one of my favorite passages from Thomas Pynchon’s novel Mason & Dixon. I’m a coffee man, myself, so the “curing hides” line gave me a good chuckle.

Here is the passage, with Dixon commenting on tea:

““Can’t understand how anyone abides that stuff.”

“How so?” Mason unable not to react.

“Well, it’s disgusting, isn’t it? Half-rotted Leaves, scalded with boiling Water and then left to lie, and soak, and bloat?”

“Disgusting? this is Tea, Friend, Cha,— what all tasteful London drinks,— that,” pollicating the Coffee-Pot, is what’s disgusting.”

“Au contraire,” Dixon replies, “Coffee is an art, where precision is all,— Water-Temperature, mean particle diameter, ratio of Coffee to Water or as we say, CTW, and dozens more Variables I’d mention, were they not so clearly out of thy technical Grasp,— ”

“How is it,” Mason pretending amiable curiosity, “that of each Pot of Coffee, only the first Cup is ever worth drinking,— and that, by the time I get to it, someone else has already drunk it?”

Dixon shrugs. “You must improve your Speed . . . ? As to the other, why aye, only the first Cup’s any good, owing to Coffee’s Sacramental nature, the Sacrament being Penance, entirely absent from thy sunlit World of Tay,— whereby the remainder of the Pot, often dozens of cups deep, represents the Price for enjoying that first perfect Cup.”

“Folly,” gapes Mason. “Why, ev’ry cup of Tea is perfect . . . ?”

“For what? curing hides?””

One time a saleswoman made 3 cups if tea for me at a piano dealer, because i forgot to drink the first 2 while playing all the piano's.

For me it’s both coffee and tea:
1) See piano
2) open piano
3) dig out music
4) start playing
5) crave coffee
7) take insulin to cover creamer
8) stay playing piano
9) remember I took insulin
for the coffee yet unmade
10) get up and go to kitchen and turn on Keurig
11) get Sugar Free but still has carbs creamer from fridge
12) select coffee pod
13) pour in creamer to empty coffee cup
14) put cup under Keurig spout and watch coffee going into cup
15) realize I was supposed to fill the hummingbird feeder
16) make humming bird nectar
17) see coffee cup sitting on the Keurig
18) take nectar out to feeders
19) grab slightly cooled coffee and place on dining table next to piano
20) resume practice before the first sip
21) After 30 minutes see coffee cup and take first cold sip
22) Become grumpy because my first coffee is stone cold

If I may, let me offer a couple of suggestions.

1) Buy a Temperfect mug from Joeveo that cools down your coffee to a drinkable temperature and keeps it that way for a few hours. Here is the link:

I'm a happy customer. Like you, I am a slow drinker of coffee. I read that drinking liquids that are too hot has been linked to esophageal cancer, so it is worth letting coffee cool before drinking it.

2) Throw away the Keurig and embrace making coffee as a science. Buy a cheap little scale, a burr grinder from Baratza, a little Breville programmable tea kettle, and the Kalita 185 pour over basket and filters.

Weigh your coffee and water and experiment with ratios. For darker roasts, I go for a 1:30, that's coffee to water, in grams, ratio.

Someone on Twitter calculated that they had spent $1000 on Starbucks coffee in the last six months. I figured my cost for a cup at 25 cents, and that was based on paying $30/pound for beans. I drink one cup a day.
