I have had a Behringer CDP Concert 1000 piano for about nine months now, and I have had some serious problems that I don't know how to fix. First of all, the pedal doesn't work. I have looked again an again to see if the pedals are plugged in, or if something is wrong, but nothing seems to be out of place. All three pedals just don't work. Occasionally, if I press the sostueno pedal, it will work like the sustain pedal, but only for a few notes, like the bass c triad. I don't understand what could happen to do this, and I have no idea how to fix it. Second, it's out of tune. Seriously. My ELECTRONIC piano is OUT OF TUNE. How is this even possible? some notes are higher than they should be, and some are lower. It's not on transpose, but every time i turn the piano on, transpose is on. It seems to stay as out of tune as it is when transpose is on, but if I turn it off it only gets worse. It's almost as if the transpose is protecting it from getting any worse. I remember fixing this a few months ago by reseting the piano to it's defaults, but I don't remember how. I at least want a tuned piano, a pedal is something less important, but still needed for the level I play at. Can someone please help me fix this?!

Was it new when you got it? If so, did you keep the receipt? If so, why not just send it back for the shop to sort out?

Right, I understand. I'm sorry, but I do not know how to solve these problems. Although some of them, at least, could be due to dirt on the contacts - especially the intermittent connection problem with the pedals. Try cleaning them - though you need to be very careful about what products - if any - to use on the switches and contacts.

. . . I remember fixing this a few months ago by reseting the piano to it's defaults, but I don't remember how. . . . Are the instructions for "reset to factory defaults" hidden in the manual? . . . Have you read them? . . . Do they work? It's possible that you have changed the "temperament" -- from "equal temperament" to something else. Some digital pianos have options for Arabic scales, Baroque scales, gamelan scales, and so on. If one of those is selected, the piano will sound "out of tune" to Western ears, raised on "equal temperament". Check the menus . . . . Charles

Thanks Toddy, I'll try that. And Charles, I bought the piano used, and it didn't come with a manual. I found it online once, but I haven't seen one and I've looked in LOTS of places. I can't find the manual, so I can't reset it.

I see -- I did some searching of my own -- nothing.
If the piano has a "Function" button, try playing with it. It _might_ get you into the menu settings. There are two that would be interesting:
a "Pitch" or "Tuning" setting that adjusts the overall pitch of the piano, away from . . . "A" = 440 Hz is the default.
A "temperament" or "scale" setting -- options like "Kirnberger", "mean-tone", "Pythagorean", "Equal". . . . If you find that, pick "Equal".
It's no fun to have something broken, and no manual! You have my sympathy.

PS --- I didn't follow the link I sent you. I apologize for wasting time; I assumed it would be better than "read the manual".

Thanks! I'm sure that will help. Oh, and no hard feelings for the link.

It sounds like it is time for you to take it to a professional.
Any local music stores where you live ?
I would take it there and see what they say about it.
