Hi,
recently I noticed few keys on my Kawai CL36 with clicking noise. It's similar noise to fingernails hitting the keys. It's not a big issue, can't hear it when using headphones, but still thinking to fix it myself. It seems to be caused by freeplay.

Video with middle C key noise: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLlipMqXWGk&feature=youtu.be

Any idea how to remove key on CL36 ?
Is it possible to open it like this ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXb7KCsOG8c

Thanx

Did someone drop a plate at 22 seconds?

Seriously though, assuming the instrument is still under warranty, I would recommend giving the dealer a call and asking to have the action checked, instead of attempting to carry-out the work yourself.

Listening to the video, it sounds like there's a sudden boost in volume (hiss) when you press the C key...

Cheers,
James

Boost of volume was caused by converting software, I have no idea why is that. I had to convert video because youtube didn't want to take original mp4 file.
After boost it is possible to hear difference between middle C and other keys. Noise is not there everytime you press the key.
I will show this video to the dealer, but maybe it is just some simple fix and I always wanted to see how it looks from inside :-)
Still I like my instrument very much and when upgrading in the future it will be most likely Kawai again. I just wish they would be more available to try them out.

P.S. Girlfriend was cleaning dishes and plate survived :-)

Ah okay, glad to hear the plate survived. wink

Oh...and thanks for the explanation too - for a moment there, I thought you may have boosted the volume at that point in order to accentuate the sound. wink

Yeah, anyway, show the video to the dealer and see what they say.

Cheers,
James
