I'm looking to buy my first digital piano and need some advice.

I've tried out several digital pianos so far, including:

Yamaha YDP-141
Yamaha YDP-C71
Yamaha P-155
Roland RP301
Kawai CN23
Kawai CN24

I didn't care much for the touch in the YDP-141, so I decided to set my price a bit higher. So far the three most enticing onces are the RP301, CP71, and CN24. The touch feels better than the Yamahas I've tried.

Now, the Kawai CN24 is kind of bare bones for the price. The dealer is selling it for $1995, which seems a bit steep. The RP301 by comparison is being sold for $1595. Now, while I found the touch on the RP301 to be just as good as the CN24, it sound felt...off. The low end of the piano sounds nice and full, but the midrange sounds seriously thin, even through headphones. Now, I just tried these pianos with their stock Roland headphones at the store...I will go back with my AKG K701 to try them out again this evening.

Now, would the CN24 be a good choice? It's lacking in USB connectivity but it makes up for it in a really nice touch, ivory feel keys, and a nice sound (at least through headphones ...the speakers in it could be a lot better). Is the price reasonable, considering it includes delivery. This seems like a really good dealer, since they service/warranty the piano themselves and also offer 100% trade-in value within the first year, which might be nice if ever I were to consider moving up to the CA65 or greater.

Any input is appreciated.

even the kawai website has the CN-24 with a buy now price of 1799, seems you should be able to negotiate to that price easily

Thing is, I'm in Canada so I can't actually get it for anywhere near that price (especially considering they charge $150 for delivery). I did get them to agree to $1899 though.

Well, I ended up buying the CN24. I love the feel, and I really love the sound characteristics of the Kuwai. It sounds absolutely incredible through my AKG K702 headphones.

They'll be delivering it tomorrow afternoon. I'm excited!

Congrats on the purchase! Hope you bought a Kawai though, and not a "Kuwai", or you will be highly disappointed smile .

Best regards,
Rafa.

Haha, yeah, thankfully that was just a typo on my part.

Cheers,
