Hi all,
i want to purchase a digital piano but am unsure what which is good. i have the brand narrowed down to yamaha.
as for the models i am in doubt over ydp 162, ydp 181 and clp 440. thank you for your input
The 162, 181, and 440 are all good pianos. The 440 is noticeably better than the other two, but also more expensive.
Based on the way you write this, I think you may have limited yourself to Yamaha and to those models prematurely. To get the best answer, you should describe what you are looking for, what you can afford, and what your biases are. In my opinion, anyone looking at these three pianos should also be looking hard at the Kawai CN range and equivalent Roland models. And if you are not dead set on this form factor, you should look at stage/slab style pianos with sounds and actions that good.
The YDP 162 and 181 are fine pianos but not terribly often recommended in this forum for Americans. Not that there's anything wrong with them, but sonically and action-wise they are similar to the much cheaper (in the US) P155. The reason to get them is that you have a strong preference for console styling instead of a slab-style piano.
