Hello,

I am a beginner so I should probably post in the beginner forum, but since the music I dream of playing (besides Bach) is more Blues and Jazz oriented (from the classics to ECM) I guess I might get much more relevant advices here.

I currently have big hands problems (no, no, my hands are not too big wink and I can't really play. In order not to waste too much time I try to keep learning music related things as much as possible.
- Ear training (using Ear Master 6 and Practica Musica)
- Sight singing (to be able to "hear" a score when I look at it)
- "Reverse" sight singing (not really transcription, just trying to know what note I think of when I have a melody in my head)
- Note reading (a lot because my sight reading is not that good)
- Reading a lot about theory.
- Listening of course but I always do that a lot.

Is there anything else useful I could do ?

Thank you for any tips smile

I think now is a good time for you to really get into rhythm..

table of time

polyrhythn

odd meter

or 16th note based funk stuff

You can probably find easier example of these ideas on youtube., and These kind of stuff can be practiced away from the piano. I think you will come back to piano with a very different perspective.

Than you etcetra, sounds indeed like a great idea (I have "The Rhythm Bible" but so far I tended to push the study away, so probably as good a time as ever to start smile

Jean luc,

Remember that when you singing, always keep it in relation to a tonal center. Maybe you already do this, but it's worth repeating. Don't just sing intervals for the sake of singing intervals. Always do it in relation to a tonal center.
