Just a discussion I was having with a mate of mine what are the best tools/resources for the piano, just wondering if anyone else had any ideas.

Best that I came up with were a metronome, tuner, scales etc. and of course, sheet music and a piano!

Feel free to post any ideas. If you know of any tools or resources that have helped you in piano playing, then please post them below!

Merry Christmas!

Chris

Knowing repertoire (though CDs, or recitals, or anything really).
Being able to do a simplified even analysis of the piece you're playing.

Hmm... cn't think of anything else really that you didn't mention. :-/

In addition to the above:

Mini CD/MD system with record function.

Colored pencil attached on the score stand or on string round neck.

Adjustable piano bench.

Highlighter pens.

Photocopier.

I got everything except the adjustable piano bench so I use firm cushions. The photocopier is useful to copy music that you later will work on and want to write over or blank out without ruining the score.

That's all I can come up with at the present unless of course you add an answering machine on your phone and a snack tray.

Have you guys got enough light to see with? There is never enough light when I sit down to play someone's piano.

And, I prefer to have my cat nearby at home.

And, I dust and polish it and wipe keys off - you got to have your cleaning tools out occasionally.

Man... those are things I've been after... (the musicians)

What are music eyeglasses, though?
