Hi. I'm new here, and I have only just started playing Piano. I recently bought a second hand Paul Gerard piano, and I was told to expect some problems for a few weeks as the piano needs to settle. However, I discovered that the sustain pedal was constantly stuck on, and I could not take it off. Is this normal in a piano during its 'settling period'?

Thanks

Angharad

No. However it is a minor problem that is easy to correct.

In all likelihood the movers did not set the damper lift correctly. Their is a small wooden dowel that is likely out of place.

You should call the dealership and they should come out and fix it promptly. Do not use the pedal until it is repaired.
