I found a great deal on a Chappell baby grand from the '50's. There is little info on them, Fine doesn't mention them. Anyone have any experience with them?

Thanks!

Chappell are an English make, the uprights were good and they used to make a concert grand way back in the 1930s or before.

I don't think the English baby grands were ever that good to be honest - even if fully restored they're not as good as a new Chinese grand, so they don't really make good cores.

Challen were better at building baby grands but the actions can be heavy.

A company started by Samuel Chappell and Johann Baptiste Cramer the famous pianist/composer. They were famous for their Yacht piano.
