So I popped into my local Costco last night to get some bulk meat n stuff. Wifey actually wanted to chat to the Wireless stand guy about a possible phone upgrade so I was looking at stuff to do to keep me busy. Low and behold what do I see? The Yamaha "mini" roadshow but since it's gone 8pm it's all shut up and nobody is there.. Well I couldn't resist sitting down at the baby grand (GH1) to play my recital piece. I then hear a voice say "Look Mummy, it's real there's a man playing the piano" (the Mum then pokes her head around the corner and says) "so there is, you play very well, I thought it was the disk system" Yep, I'm really loving this journey of exploration.. Maybe I'll get around to actually recording it for the next ABF recital!

Me too, Barb. I needed a grin right about now. Nice post, TTigg! I'll bet you play really well. At least as good as a disk player system. Take care, Rick

Great story! I love it when you can play the pianos in stores and get reactions from people. I actually got a job offer at a hotel once just by sitting down and playing. ------------------------------ Play New Age Piano http://www.newagepianolessons.com

Good for you,
at my local Costco there was a small digital baby grand without a bench, I played a little bit but nobody noticed, it was so noisy.

Nice story TTigg, but . . . Too bad it wasn't a Steinway The acoustics must be pretty bad in the Costco warehouse, huh? Did an employee hit you up for an Executive membership while you were playing? :p How did wifey make out with the phone upgrade? Regards ( ), JF

JF, that was funny. So true, so true. They are a bit pushy about executive memberships...

Great story. You could have plopped down the giant Hebrew Natl hot dog and soda for a buck and a half on the fall board while resting the 5 lb tub-o-mustard on the lid while you performed; just for a little atmospere!.

Reminds me of the old days when I was 14 and our little town was visited by a travelling trade fair who also sported two upright pianos. I sat down and tried out the instruments, and the salesman asked me if I could stay till closing time and give a demonstration of the pianos. I was in seventh heaven, and at the end of the evening, I was presented with a check for $2.00, enough for 4 movie tickets at the time. CostCo next.....

Yes! Are these the world's best hot dogs, or what? I sometimes go there for lunch even if I'm not shopping just to savor one of those rascals!
