Yikes! It's true. The last time I had a piano lesson was in 1974. I was a music major in college, trying to become a school band director (which never happened, but that's another story). We had to take class piano my freshman year - you know - everyone in one room at electronic keyboards - I hated that. In my sophomore year I had actual lessons, one on one with a teacher. I had taken a few lessons before college, but not much. My focus was on band - clarinet.

A year ago I got serious about the piano again, and started self-study. I guess I was trying to recapture my lost youth. I worked my way through Alfred's book three, using an old, short, electronic keyboard, practicing about an hour a day. It was fun, although I can't say I made a lot of progress.

Then, a few days before Christmas, I came home to a great surprise. My wife had arranged to borrow a piano from our church, and there it was, installed in the dining room, a 50 year old Wurlitzer upright, which the church was more than happy to get out of their way. What can I say? It plays, and I'm happy.

My wife also got me two months of piano lessons, and my first lesson is this week. Wish me luck!

Sam

Welcome Sam,
That's exciting. I can't wait to hear how your lesson goes.
