Hey guys, I'm a pretty new piano player and I was wondering if any of you know of an easy waltz song I can learn. I love the way they sound no matter how simple. Thanks

Pretty new, like in a few months, weeks? Try Dimitri Kabalevsky, Easy piano compositions, Op. 39, there are two, I mean the Waltz "non troppo allegro", it has one b (my theory and language skills leave me here). Anyway, it is very simple, but very graceful, too. Enjoy!

Welcome Fatlock.

If you'd like the sheets to either of these waltzes that I play, let me know.

Mel, I assume that is you playing those waltzes? Very nice!!!!

Now....I do have a slight problem though, the original post said "easy waltz"......maybe it's just me, but those sound anything but easy!!!!

Again, I loved the music, thanks!

When I reach the place I'm going, I will surely know my way.

Thanks Rocky, and yes that's me playing.

The Henselt is easy.

The Levitzki is hard.

Luna,

Thanks very much.

I'm still working on the Levitzki, even though I submitted it for Recital III.

When I get it the way I want it, I'll post it again.

The last page should be twice as fast as I play it now.

Fatlock,

Have you looked at Chopin's Waltz No.19 in a minor?

It's pretty easy.

The sheets are in the public domain, so I can post them, if you want.

Here's the sheet for Chopin Waltz No. 19, I learned this one awhile back, fun stuff. smile
It's a .pdf file though so you'll probably need Acrobat Reader to open it.
http://www.savefile.com/files/43600

It's not really that easy, but not really that tough either, just takes some practice.

Here's my attempt at playing it:

P.S.
Those were great Dannylux! I saved them for further listening, hope you don't mind. thumb

AnotherSchmoe,

Very nice playing.

Your dynamics really show the feeling of the piece.

And your mordents and grace notes are terrific!

Thanks very much for posting your beautiful performance of this Waltz.

I'm really happy that you enjoyed the two waltzes I played. Thanks so much.

Mel

dannylux, I'd love to have the sheet music to the Levitzki waltz if you could post it! smile

Thanks...I had another listen. It's just delightful.

Schmoe, greatly enjoyed the Chopin, too. That's a great waltz.

Luna,

Yes, Levitzki's Valse d'Amour is in the public domain.

This is actually an exquisite piece of music.

John,

If you want something easier to start with you might try this one:

http://www.keyboardcompanion.com/StyleArticle/Style1.html

Scroll down to the Waltz. You can see what the music looks like and you can order it from: http://www.pianoatpepper.com/catalog/pap_index.jsp
It comes from a book by Catherine Rollin called "Spotlight on Romantic Style." There are about 5 or 6 pieces in the book and they're preperatory pieces in the style of Chopin, all originals composed by Rollin.

dannylux, thank you! Probably too hard for me at the moment but one I'd like to look at down the line. It's really beautiful. Thanks again.

Welcome!

Why not try "The Blue Danube"? That's a pretty simple one, and it's great.
