I'm a good sightreader and I know the notes because I learned them when I started taking lessons but I don't name them I just know what they are and where to go on the keyboard.

When I first started lessons I did read them, then my teacher told me to play by intervals and that is the trick at least for me.

I can pretty much sightread level 2 music playing it through both hands and level 3 is getting almost as good as level 2.

I had good intentions of doing sightreading on a daily basis but it wasn't necessary because I didn't memorize.

I always played by looking at the page so in essence I was sightreading everything during class, during practice and while playing for pleasure.

I memorize now but I always look at the score even if I know the piece unless it's repertoir that I play almost everyday.
