I noticed that many of our fellow members here use Box.net to upload their songs, so I just wanted to ask about it. I checked the "How to Record your Piano on your Computer" topic, and I saw that it recommends Box.net as well. It says that there is supposedly a Box.net "Lite" version that you can sign up for for free(with 1 GB free online storage), but when I access the Box.net site to sign up for this free account, I can't seem to find it anywhere. Did they take this free account feature down, because all I see are the paid subscription accounts?

Also, are there any other free alternatives for uploading my songs online?

Hi z32,

It appears that box.net offers some people the Lite option but not others. This issue has come up a few times in the past weeks.

You can try throwing away your cookies and clearing your cache (see your web browser's manual), then reload box.net. Repeat this until it gives you the Lite option. This worked for me a while back, but I can't promise anything. smile

Or you can sign up from another computer.

Alternatives are mediafire.com , esnips.com and others.

Hi z32,

I signed up this past summer and no lite option was apparent. There was a free trial offer which I signed up for. Once an account was established, there were more options available including downgrading to the free type in the account folder. I switched to the free and they also later emailed info about a flat fee yearly option.

Cool, thanks for the info you 2. I ended up finding about this site called Mediamax, and I really like it! It even has the free streaming option like Box.net!
