Here are two recordings (Op. 9 No. 1 and 62. No. 2)that I made a few years ago.
The sound is quite crappy... Tu much basses.

Wie du schon gesagt hast, ist die Begleitung ein wenig laut an mehreren Stellen, aber wenigstens, um ein Stück neu kennen zu lernen, ist es doch nicht schlecht, wenn man schon beim ersten Mal die Begleitung hört, denn dan kann man sich schonmal vorstellen, wie man das Stück selbst "interpretieren" würde. Außerdem hast du ja selbst schon angemerkt, dass es für deinen Geschmack zu 'träge' rüber kommt. Wolltest du doch sagen, oder?

Ich kannte Op. 62 No. 2 auf jeden Fall noch nicht, aber darin sind einige Stellen, die sich sehr interessant anhören. Wie lange hast du gebraucht, um das Stück so spielen zu könen?
Bin zwar kein Fachmann, aber manche Stellen klingen ein wenig ungleichmäßig (zum Beispiel in der 32.Sekunde, oder ist das Rubato? Andere Stellen finde ich jetzt doch nicht mehr). Ich versuche mir gerade vorzustellen, wie meine Klavierlehrerin es beurteilen würde. Kann es sein, dass du ein schnelleres Tempo während der 4. Minute spielst als am Anfang? Wie auch immer - du kommst auf jeden Fall bei 4:10 ziemlich genau wieder auf das Anfangstempo zurück, was mir bestimmt nicht gelingen würde. In Sachen Betonung hast du auf alle Fälle alles so gemacht, wie es mir gut gefällt!

nimm das, was ich geschrieben hab', nicht zu ernst, ich kann mir gut vorstellen, dass einiges für diese Nocturne eher belanglos ist und es mehr auf andere Sachen ankommt.

Nocturne Op.9 No.1 ist neben Br.108 diejenige, die ich am liebsten höre. Sie zu spielen, bringt sicher noch mehr Spaß.
Deine Aufnahme ist gut, aber ein wenig schnell, oder? Manche Stellen, wie zum Beispiel die ersten 6 Töne würde ich "rhytmisch etwas verträumter" spielen, aber ich sehe ein, dass das jeder anders meint, ist aber bestimmt eine wichtige Stelle für das gesamte Stück. Schade, dass die Begleitung so laut rüber kommt, ansonsten ist es eine gelungene Aufnaheme und ich bin ehrlich gesagt etwas neidisch, dass ich es nicht so gut hinkriege, die Tasten alle so anzuschlagen, dass die Töne genau so kommen, wie sie sollen.
Spielst du die beiden Nocturnes denn immer noch? Vielleicht kannst du ja mal eine neue Aufnahme machen, würde sich mit Sicherheit lohnen!

I've played 6 nocturnes.

Are you playing Op 9, No 1 on your Nordiska? That happens to be my favorite Chopin nocturn. The piano sounds quite nice. I've never played/seen one before. In places it sounds like a Steinway with a bit more of a metallic edge; but not unpleasant at all. Very nice playing as well.

Yes I play them on my Nordiska. For Caroline, it's a very small upright, "Tutura II". :p

It is far from perfection, especially at the end, there are some memory slips, and technical problems.

I really enjoy your playing as you have very good taste in classical music which is not my forte. I want to like something, or enjoy listening to it, the first time I hear it. I have never acquired a taste for classical music that almost requires one to acquire a taste.

I just found this forum and haven't listened to anyone else's recordings yet. But, in the past, after listening to some forum member's recordings I'd sit back and think "what the heck was that?" I'm sure they played it well but it was a struggle to listen to it.

Anyway, in that recording your piano doesn't sound like a Steinway, it doesn't sound like any particular piano but still sounds great. You were joking when you said it was an upright, correct?

(Actually I still remember the Imperial I have played once, very remarkable, the best I've ever played. If I had the space, I'd own one. But for a Imperial, you first have to buy a suitable house, and then the little extra expense for the piano.....)

I'm working on producing a CD but have had a heck of a job recording the piano. I don't have great equipment, but it's not horrible either. However, the high notes on the piano are almost not audible and the bass over saturates the recording. While the bass is definitely very strong on the piano, the treble is very well balanced against it. Therefore I don't think it's a balance problem. Another reason I believe this to be true is when I record just a high D, it is barely heard on playback. Drop down an octave and it's only slightly better.

Maybe it has to do with the harmonics? I could record my previous piano with a crappy, hand-held, recorder. I'd just pop it on the music stand and play. I did this so I could study my playing and really didn't care about music quality. Nevertheless, the quality of the sound was quite good. I tried the handheld (in addition to the better equipment) with this piano and forget it, the recordings are so bad that I can't even listen to them to analyze my playing.

I'm listening to the op.62 no.2 nocturne now, and it's very nice! I love the sound of the piano, too! It sounds quite mellow and lyrical.
