Do you have any favorite pieces of what is usually called "educational music" that you can recommend? An example for the kind of thing I'm looking for would be Petit Trianon Suite, by Denes Agay. Another gem I could discover myself is Reinagle's op. 2 (24 short and easy pieces).

(This repeats my post in the Adult Beginner's Forum;
I'm sure a piano teacher has a lot to say on this.)

Any of Dennis Alexander's books are helpful and come in a many levels of difficulty. You may also want to check out Eugenie Rocherolle. She has quite a few challenging pieces for the intermediate students as well as having beginning studentpieces that sound more advanced than they really are.
