Hello!! I'm sending a general question out there to ask advice on finding ways to work on note-reading with students. I had a huge influx of new students last year, all of whom were learning to read music for the first time. They all seem to be doing well, but I would love some suggestions on games or fun exercises to review and help with music reading. Most of these kids are around ages 6-9. Any ideas?

Recommend them this website, if they are either old enough to understand, or have adult supervision from parents who will be able to help them get started wtih the excersizes. I use a computer in my teaching studio so I can actually have them get started on the excersizes in class and then know what to do when they get home.

It's even better when they have a MIDI keyboard if you can get them to connect it to their computer at home!

Hi Musictrack,

Take a peek at www.tcwresources.com (fyi: I'm an author of some of these materials) We specialize in music theory games and have several for note reading. Nifty Notes, Note Spoons, Note Nabber, Wacky Words with Wanda or Walter, Slap me Silly or the Kreative Keyboard Packet are some of our note reading games. Some work great one on one, while others are better in a group setting. We have several University preparatory programs that use these materials.

I hope you find what you're looking for!

Charlene
