We are interested of buying Petrof 125 for our daughter because we like the "mellow" sounds that is usually found in European pianos but at affordable price. We live in Toronto, Canada and found a dealer who priced the Petrof @ $6500 + tax( incl bench, delivery & 1 tuning ).

The Larry Fine book describe this piano as " very acceptable but inconsistent workmanship".
Any thoughts on this subject ? Anybody has any experience on the "reliability" of the piano ?

Thanks for your comment.

I have owned the Petrof 118 (used to be 115) for the past 10 years and it is a great piano. It hold the tune remarkably well and has a beautiful tone. Take a look at the http://www.geneva-intl.com website (the US distributor) and you can call up the specifications on the model you are looking at. Take what Larry says with a grain of salt. I found he is biased towards American pianos. Whenever I mention the Petrof name to a non North American they gush over it. We are thinking of upgrading to a Petrof grand. I'm finding it is tough to find comparable quality at the Petrof price.
