Kathy, I'm trying to plan ahead for this trip. Can you give us the names of some motels in your area that would be reasonably priced? Jerry and I are really looking forward to seeing you again
and hearing some great piano music.

Linda, here are a few suggestions.

In Auburn, we have a fairly new Hilton.
Hilton Gardens River Watch

There's also the Ramada Inn in Lewiston - 10 minutes from us.
Ramada Inn

And Fireside Inn which is just off the turnpike in Auburn.

And also near the Auburn Turnpike exit is Sleepy Time Motel

Across the River just 5 minutes away, in the Bates College area is a nice bed and breakfast

Ware Street Inn

A 15 minute drive from us is another really nice sounding B&B on one of the local lakes - Wolf Cove Inn

And if you want to be near the coast, Freeport is your best bet, which is about 1/2 drive from us

Whoopee! The party is coming up soon. I'm hoping to get a fairly accurate head count by early next week. I'll PM everyone directions when you confirm.

There should be a lot of good playing. I looped in an oboe player I met recently when we played together at a wedding a few weeks ago. She's Julliard trained, but out of the professional loop at the moment and itching to play. Bernard and I are both doing pieces with her, so it will add a little non-piano texture to the afternoon.

So, here's who I've tallied up so far.

Bernard
Beelady
Roberta
Quirt (+2 Quirtlets maybe)
Terrytunes (+?)
Frank Baxter
Larry Buck(+1 maybe)
Jeremy & Linda Gloo
John Citron
Ed B
Billy Jo (oboe)
Nancyw (maybe)
JeanneW (maybe)
Irishmark (maybe)

Kathy,

I wish I could make it, unfortunately it's now a bit more of a drive for me.

See this thread:

Please take/post lots of pictures.
Have a great time everyone, I'll be thinking about you.

Aw darn, Frank! I missed that. Not only don't I get to have the grand master grace my party, but we're not neighbors anymore. Waaaaaa! But, looking beyond my selfish motives, it sounds like a good move for you, and I wish you the best in your new endeavors.

I can't make it, either. I have family coming up that weekend, and it will be the first time the great-grandparents (and a couple of great-aunts!) have met our now 6 month old grandson. Sorry, really wish I could be there.

I'm looking forward to this gathering and meeting up and sharing good times with good friends! 3hearts

I'm trying to convince my lil' sissy, Marytunes into coming along. She took piano lessons for a fair amount of time because of my good influence!!! laugh

KK.. other than a fruit tart, please give me some other suggestions for contributions to the food table.

Hi Kathyk,

Terry just pm'd me about this gathering. I am so close... only in Brunswick. Only problem is my wife has taken off for a wedding and I'm home with kids and animals. One of our horses has gone badly lame and I need to be close by and keep soaking his hoof. All that said... if I can I would like to at least drop by and say hi (and listen to some piana playin:) ) could you PM me directions?

Peyton

It would wonderful if you could stop by - even if just for a bit. As I said earlier, I've yet to meet another Maine PW member. Directions will follow in a PM shortly.

Kathy- so sorry I can't make it today. I'm stuck in Deer Isle and won't be back until Monday. Hope the storm doesn't mess things up. Please keep me on your list- I'd love to meet some other piano lovers from Maine. Thanks again!! Best, Nancy

Well, at least Deer Isle isn't too bad a place to be stuck. Hopefully next time.

Larry Buck is currently working wonders on the piano, and I'm just taking a break from sous chef duties before others start to arrive.
