Oh, so this is where everyone is posting. I posted to the other thread.

It was a fabulous event. There was so much fine playing that it is hard to single out any individual players.

Phil -- Your interpretation of the Brahms Op. 118/2 was wonderful. You showed me how far I need to go to do justice to the piece. It will be some time before I feel comfortable playing it publicly.

Spin Dr -- Thanks for the education on Bill Evans. You're a great player. I found "The Bad & the Beautiful" online and am struggling with it now.

Paul, you have some licks! I really enjoyed your playing too.

Klav -- Thanks for playing Beethoven. That was one of my favorite pieces. Your new AF is inspirational. Good luck with your move and your music studies.

The best part of the evening for me was opportunity to meet and talk to a dedicated group of piano nuts. The common love of piano creates a powerful energy level ... one can feel a buzz .... maybe the alcohol helped a little too.

It was a treat having Ulrich Sauter there. He definitely knows how to enliven a party.

Thanks again to Cathy, Sally, Ed & Carol, and everyone else that worked so hard to put the event together.

JP

Ermo, your voyeuristic tendencies are really coming to light. I don't want to ruin the surprise, but the pictures will show people, pianos, people playing pianos, people talking to other people, people eating, and people drinking. I just hope they don't show that other thing that happened...

Ooops, I've said too much already.

Yes, markb, will you please learn to hold your tongue ... er, fingers!

And I cannot believe you would rather celebrate your 20th reunion than my 20th birthday!!!

I rather like that we don't have any pictures, yet. Creates a kind of mystique - don't you think?

You didn't invite me to your, um, "20th" birthday celebration. I felt snubbed, so I agreed to go to the reunion.

Thanks everyone, for a most enjoyable party. Thanks Terrytunes, for making the distinctive name tags. Thanks to Cathy for hosting the event and getting the pianos prepped. I know that doing the latter is costly -- no wonder many piano dealers don't take the trouble. Thanks to the many participants who played pieces. I was impressed at the skill levels, and the artistry. Thanks SpinDoctor for the primer you gave me and my wife about how jazz piano is done.

I enjoyed meeting the representative of Bechstein who had flown in from Indiana. We talked long about her and Cathyís plans to unseat Steinway from its near-monopoly. To judge by the superb quality of the three Bechsteins on display, I think itís just a matter of time! I was especially intrigued by the small key-dip on the big Bechsteins ... it makes these behemoths a lot easier to play than smaller pianos with their deeper key-dip.

I hope sincerely that there will be a next time.

Peter, meeting you and your lovely wife was a great pleasure. While my knowledge of jazz is limited, I will bend the ear of anyone unfortunate enough to be within earshot as JPM can attest. wink I do hope to hear you play someday!

Cathy has not been able yet to post some pics from the party. Here are a few she sent me. Hopefully Cathy will post more, if not I'll post more later.

Let's see, in the third picture there's some goofy dude on the left (boy, I wouldn't want to be him!), then Leslie and Spin Doctor. I can't tell who got cut off on the right.

I think Seinfeld was in town for a gig at a comedy club. He was very funny but not a good piano player.

Markb, revealed!

Way cool!

Did you guys, you know, talk to each other and learn each other's names?

I'm with Ermo. I want names.

Hint: I didn't attend.

Mark, you are soooo cute! (Although, I'm a tad surprised to see you with a shirt on). And, Spin Doctor's not bad either - but not nearly as cute as his girl.

I love pictures!! More names please.

Well, here's a hint: I may have appeared in one or more pictures...

Those came out pretty good, BTW.

Was it someone's birthday??!!! or is that just a huge candle on the table??!! laugh

klavierspielerin.. are you bonding with "your" piano??!!

Ummmmmm... you did take a DC piano pile up group pic, right???!!!

I'm anxiously awaiting to know who is who in these pics. I only recognize Klavierspielerin from a pic in another thread!

No one's b-day that I'm aware of (although mine was the next day!!). That was just a HUGE candle on the table! As a matter of fact, there was quite some discussion at the table when someone looked in and realized that there was a lit wick in it! LOL

And yes, lots of piano bonding. thumb

:blushing graemlin: Thanks, kathy, but we wouldn't be right for each other. I'm an ISTJ. (I'm glad, though, that you didn't say you were surprised to see me with pants on.)

Alright, let's try this. Other attendees can add and correct.

Pic 1: Gentlemen seated with back to camera--I. Bruton on left, pianocliff on right. Standing in back, red shirt, is Pegg, in front of her, seated, is klavier. Seated to her left is, I think, her mother, Corinne (yes?). I don't know the lady seated between and behind them (in the black shirt). Standing, on the far right, is JPM. Unfortunately, I don't know the other people.

Pic 2: I didn't meet the people at this table. frown

Pic 3: Already identified.

Pic 4: Seated at right table, across from me is Linda in PA in white shirt. Standing in back, at left is Sally from Bechstein, and to her left is Carol.

Pic 5: frown Help, please.

Pic 6: Ed playing one of the 9' Bechsteins.

That's about everyone I can remember. I think you can ID the people in the remaining pics.

Criminy, klavier, why didn't you tell us your birthday was the next day? I'm sure someone there could have accompanied the rest of us in a rousing rendition of happy birthday. In fact, all of us could have accompanied at the same time--a 21-piano salute.

Haha! I didn't even think about that! I was going to post it here the next day, but I was so tired that I forgot. A 21-piano salute for my 21st b-day. Oh well...Maybe we can try again at the same time next year! laugh

Oh, and you were very close with my mom's name. It's actually Corrine, not Corinne. Very good!

In picture 5, the one in the jacket is from Sauter I believe. I ended up having my back to him through most of the evening! I don't know who the other person is! I don't think I met him! I'm so sorry... frown
