Ok, Cindy, I didn't know which board to post this on, but after I read your topic about this forum, I was sure this was the one.

Just food for thought: Are rock stars like Elton John considered pianists, piano players, or does it even matter?

Actually, this topic doesn't really matter, but I'm here to put this board on the page!

(I thought it would be fun!)

I care-I care!!

I would have to say that a "piano player" would have to be a music-reader with no soul who can play the piano.
All the rest should go under pianists. If one puts the time into trying to perfect their piano-playing abilities, then they should be able to hold the title. That is why there is the term "Concert Pianist". They are a notch above the rest.
Just my thought on the matter.

Finally! Thanks Jamie!

Way to burst my bubble, though:

Sometimes I feel like a piano player, cuz my ear for music is not all that great.

But thanks for adding me into the pianist catagory anyway:

Anywho, I geuss this topic isn't too hot.

No- not bubble-bursting!!!!
I really suck at playing, but I consider myself a panist, heck I have put a lot of years of investment into this!!!
I have put a lot of thought into this. I am glad someone brought this up. I think I may have sounded a little too crass. Rock players are pianists too, that's all I was trying to get at, here. I was just the forum about Ben Folds (and Harry Connick, Jr). I am a huge fan of the popular piano artist! Make that Pianist.

This topic rules, according to me.
