One of the features I'm not using yet allows me to break the forums down into categories.
It might make it easier to see what we have here, particularly for newbees.

In other words, instead of just having one long list of forums, we could have headings like:

<font size="+1">Information</font>
Piano Forum
Pianist Corner
Piano Tuner-Technician's Forum
FAQ
Concert News

<font size="+1">General Discussions</font>
The Coffee Room

<font size="+1">Fun Stuff</font>
Just For The Fun of It
The Polling Booth

<font size="+1">Archives</font>
Forum Archives

<font size="+1">Restricted Forums</font>
Restricted Access Forum
Restricted MH Alumni Members Only

What do you think, should we try it?

Yes. Wouldn't you have to include 2 FAQs, since there is one for the piano forum and one for the pianist corner?

Good idea.

Hello Frank,

Your refinements have merit, though I'm in no way displeased by the current setup.

One thing I've thought for awhile that we need: a simple, easy, comprehensive method for answering the most common question that appears so frequently in the Forum: Variations of "Please advise me on how to purchase the best possible piano. My budget is X dollars."

Our experts repeat the same or similar advice again and again ... if the advice from the past could be collected in one file somewhere on this site (even uncollated), we could refer newcomers to that file and save a lot of effort. This file ideally can be listed somewhere 'up front' so lurkers will likely see it quite easily.

***AFTER*** reading those posts from the past, nuances can still be addressed in new threads. IMHO this would be vastly more efficient than repeating the same things ad infinitem.

Thanks for providing such a great playground for all of us! cool

Hi pianodevo,

That's the idea of the FAQ's
FAQ - Piano Forum

FAQ - Pianist Corner

The trick is to find threads that provide helpful answers to common questions.
I can move them into one of the FAQ's if somebody lets me know about them.
