I often see people having trouble finding
a place to upload pictures they want to
display in a post.

Or, they find a place to keep them, only
to have them get deleted later.

I have created a way to upload pictures for
display, and a place to store them permanently
so they won't disappear from your posts.

http://www.pianoworld.com/Uploads/fileuploader2.html

After you upload your picture, you can view the details, including the exact link you would need to use to display them on the forums.

NOTE: The viewer doesn't seem to be working right now, but you will also receive an email containing the link information.
You can pretty much assume your picture will be at: http://www.pianoworld.com/Uploads/files/
followed by the name of your file.

With things like our Forums Parties, Piano Tours, etc. , I'd prefer we had a copy on Piano World so I know the pictures will remain available.

Check it out, and let me know what you think.

To post pictures in a forums thread...
  • You need to either have started a new thread, or use the Full Reply.
  • Simply click the "IMAGE" button (bottom of right hand list of buttons under the text box), then copy and paste the Full URL pointing to your picture.
  • Be careful not to have any space between the IMG tags, and make sure you only have one http:// in the URL
  • The picture should appear in your message, wherever you were when you clicked the Image button.

Please do NOT post any copyrighted pictures without permission.

Also see this post about PICTURE SIZES!
http://www.pianoworld.com/ubb/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/topic/1/7908.html

If you decide you want a picture that you posted removed from our database, email me with the details.

Please NOTE:
This is not for our CD Project, the information
about registering and uploading "sound" files for the project are located here:
http://www.pianoworld.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?/topic/33/12.html

(P.S. Thanks for the "voting" poll, too. Even if my vote, the second, cancelled out yours, the first. laugh )

Thanks. Does that mean that I can now delete umpteen megabytes of storage for things people have sent me (photos, audio, video, etc.) that are linked in prior messages? No one else would do it. (Although I must admit this has caused me to recieve more than a few "do not post"'s but this is for you onlies). laugh

Thanks!

If one picture truly is worth a thousand words, I could have saved myself my first reply to the post about protecting a piano from sunlight by using only my second reply, with the photo.

(I saw this thread only after I posted my earlier reply.)

Okay, what did I do wrong? How come everybody else's pictures show up in the email, and mine just shows up as a URL link? (Posted in Piano Forum message about Yamahas, Petrofs and Walters.)

Or is it just different on my screen, and everybody else gets the picture?

Deutsch:

I went to that thread, clicked on the link, saved the picture to my desktop, then came back and used the upload instructions to see if it will appear here.

Beautiful piano, huge picture!

(Somewhere on another thread, there are instructions on limiting the size of a photo; sorry I didn't look for it before posting this picture.)

Frank:

On my monitor, it's still too big.

I just did a search, but I can't find the instructions I was looking for; it seems that there's a way to put IMG640 or IMG800, or something like that, to limit the picture width.

I was trying to see if Deutsch's picture would post (in the thread where he tried posting it, it appears only as a link), but I didn't know how big it was. Please cut the size as much as you want to.

Thanks for your help. Sorry, Frank, about uploading a photo too big. I actually did reduce it, but obviously not enough.

NorthAmerican, thanks as well. Somehow I missed that one crucial step about the image button. Sorry to cause everybody so much trouble.

Oh, good grief. I can't do anything right.

I have saved some pics onto my hard drive. And then I went to add them to the PW pic uploader. Everthing seemed to work OK, but then I never saw an URL. And I'm not listed among those who have submitted a pic.

Can anyone advise?

That's a beauty! What kind of piano is that, Cindy? I'm very curious.
