Ok, I made dinner. Jodi and KathyK pooped out. Steak fahitas with grated cheddar, red peppers and onions, salsa, tomato and moz and basil salad.......not bad for a steamy night...

We have been having the same salad for the last two weeks:

Cut up tomatoes (super sweet cherry*, yellow pear cherry*, and early girls, half of them volunteers in my flower garden), lemon cucumbers, dilly beans, kalamata olives, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, herbs/spices, salt, and feta cheese.

I'm not tired of it yet.

Sounds yummy. Wish we had volunteer tomatoes! What's a lemon cucumber? I love dilly beans. Do you can your own?

Lemon Cucumber

Another picture

Lemon cucumber are really pretty - round, yellow and cream striped, and taste just like regular cucumbers. The vine is very nice, I grew it up the front perennial fence on a small (3') trellis. They have spread along the rails of the fence and into the other flowers.

The dilly beans I canned last year. I grew a bunch to eat and to pickle this year, but things got crazy time-wise, and they got away from me, and by the time I was ready to can, they were past prime. (major frown frown frown ) Same thing happened to the summer squash. One day I had cute little grillable dudes, the next think I know, they had become large orange torpedos. Oh well.

smile Jodi
