Plays, I just took a break from computer to eat my dinner of microwaved pasta (Kathy and Sophie are out) and "Fields of Gold" was the song on the radio. Coincidence?

Say, what would have been your song 35 years ago?

Wow...another great pick. I love that one...both the Dead and Lyle Lovett...

For me it was the Dead version. Of course I could have said (or ought to have said) several of other tunes including Perfect Strangers or Strange Kind of Woman. laugh

How odd and cool at the same time!

Thirty-five years ago I think was when Bridge Over Troubled Water was released. Man, am I ever dating myself with that information! help

35 years ago, I would have to say "Season of the Witch" ... the Bloomfield Kooper Stills version.

As far as songs that make you cry... there's an old John Stewart song called "Mother Country." It's very folk-inspired, sort of a combo of talking/singing. When he gets to the end, about E. A Stuart, I always lose it.

I am a huge fan of the old John Stewart songs... he writes such evocative, haunting, nostalgic lyrics.

As far as my song, I'll have to think about it. There have been sooo many. Maybe Blind Faith, "Can't Find My Way Home..." Hmmm. That would be high on the list, for sure.

I have so many old favorites. Not one song. I especially like ballads.

But for some reason I'll never forget the words to John Denver's Rhymes & Reasons.

I have a few, for different reasons. One of mine with special meaning is "Daniel" by Elton John.

Before the Deluge -- Jackson Browne -- wonderful piano!

Your Song -- Elton John

Thunder Road -- Bruce Springsteen -- great for driving way too fast on an open highway, or for driving the piano!

Estonically yours,

"The One" by Elton John. At the time, I was obscessed with someone who unfortunately(or actually fortunately as it would have turned out)didn't reciprocate my out of control sentiments!

But it's one of the few songs I made a point of getting the lyrics down pat so I could sing it while playing it on the piano.

and 'careless whisper' - "..i'm never gonna dance again.."?
