troll

(v.) (1) To deliberately post derogatory or inflammatory comments to a community forum, chat room, newsgroup and/or a blog in order to bait other users into responding.

(2) To surf the Internet.

(3) To hang around a chat room reading the posts instead of contributing to the chat.

(n.) One who performs any of the above actions.

Unfortunately, there is no definition on Webopedia for sock puppet. wink

Thank you, LP. With the exceptions of #2 and #3 they sound like real scumbags.
BTW, the Federalist Papers were also written by sockpuppets.

Lazy Pianists posts are often trolls IMHO

LP's posts do tend to spark debate. IMHO LP doesn't appear malicious or rude he/she seems to enjoy a good argument not necessarily mud slinging as some posters are doing. It's interesting how some trollers troll for certain fish not necessarily all fish. (did that make sense, I feel like I'm talking in code.)
Thank you for your definition. It will help me not to respond so emotionally.

Number 2 in this definition is merely any web user. Number 3 is commonly refered to as a "lurker". Only number 1 is really a "troll". I don't think this "webopedia" is up to speed on this term.

LP is not a troll at all.

He/she is a Christian liberal and often posts in a very provocative way.

But she respects people and never offends anybody on this forum.

I tend to respect him/her a lot and I am looking forward to the moment when he/she is respected as a person and as the bearer of an opinion.

Being the optimistic, I feel this moment is not very far from now.

God created man and he made him conservative and liberal. And then, He chased both from the Garden of Eden and said : you will spend eternity cursing the other part of yourself.

Thanks for explaining that Benedict, boy am I embarrassed. Of course when you agree with an incendiary post you would not see it as a troll.
Don't you see that my post implying the LP is a troll was in itself a troll ? Hooked you didn't it ? smile

I realize very few of us exhibit Christ-like behavior at all times as we should, but in all sincerity I cannot reconcile LP's extremist left positions with the Bible and the teachings and example of Christ.

As for respect, she is now trying to equate her hiding behind another identity with that of people who had to fear very real and devastating repurcussions from the government. She will get respect for herself and her opinions when she admits to owning those opinions.

Gryphon,

I have been away for a while. I do not understand this problem of sockpuppet.

As far as I am concerned, LP is the person who signs LP.

One may not agree with his/her opinions (maybe he/she could let us know his/her gender), but I do not see anything in what he/she writes that is not worthy of respect.

JBryan made it very clear that it is best to reply with facts and not with fury.
I agree 100%.

I think a forum can be a process. LP is communicating more and more with everybody and sometimes shows a very pleasant sense of humor.

I had to leave this forum because I got really disturbed by the hatred toward Ariel and LP (or other liberals).

I do not see what qualify any of us to decide whether one is Christian or not.

The core of Christianism is "Love thy neighbor like yourself".

Of course, if one does not love oneself, he will have problems.

But this is not the case in this forum.

In no case can hatred be acceptable behavior in a place of encounter.

Hatred is the ultimate troll.

smile

Funny you should say that; my biggest problem with the extreme conservative views expressed here is that they are so contrary to the teachings of Christ, which you all profess to follow closely.

Cheers,

Nice. You've just insulted hundreds or even thousands of Piano World readers. Forget the nearly 4,000 members, many of whom do not regularly post, but right now there are 48 registered users and 102 guests reading this.

Do you actually believe LP condones all of the above. At any rate, Christ was quite revolutionary for his time. That's one of the reasons he had to die.

Sam, from her extensive post history, yes.

And no, Jesus was *not* the first non-violent revolutionary, despite what Stephen Stills says. That was *not* why he had to die. He died as a final sacrifice for our sins. Clarify something for me, are you saying Christ *does* condone those things?

Sam,

Please reaqd gryphon's response to benedict, as he wrote much better than I.

If you have access to what "Christian behavior" absolutely entails, go to the head of the class.

You have just trumped 2000 years of theologic argument.

And this is because...what? Why?

I started a thread about cutting one's limbs off, amputee wannabes, and now it has morphed into an AIDs discussion. That's the way things go here in Algore's invention.
