Bob, do you have a login that we can use? As expected, it redirects to a sign-up page.

Or if you could cut and paste the article, we'd appreciate it.

I did cut and paste this, and then I read the NYT policy on using this article "for informational web use," which certainly seems to apply to this forum. The cost is $150 for 1 month, $600 for one year. While I enjoy being able occasionally to provide information to the forum members (eschewing split infinitives as I do so), the price seems a bit steep. The NYT allows signons for free (I believe; it's never cost me anything and I don't remember it being linked to my NYT subscription) and allows one to access for free any article published within the previous week. I'd email you the article, but you don't have an email address listed. Email me if you wish and I'll send you the article (in the next six days, while it's still free).

Yes, it is still free. I just signed up right now to read the article.

Sorry about the incomplete post, I was just heading out the door (being pulled, actually) and wanted to get something posted before I left. After reading Palindromes post, I'm going to check my Visa bill more closely next month. I've read the NYTimes online for quite a while now, and never ran across (or afoul of) the policy he mentioned. The six-day limit is valid in most cases, that's why I didn't want to wait till later to post it. Jgoo, I noticed the abscence of ClassicalArchives too, but thought maybe they had left it out because they weren't discussing Midi sites, but only streaming sites, or at least sites requiring a broader band.
As an aside, NYTimes does allow free access, as do most other newspapers that have online sites. Recently in Florida, however, 4 newspapers have started to charge for access. The WallStreetJournal has always (I think) charged, but its a slightly different breed of publication.

Bob:
Thanks for the excellent article. (Of course, I book-marked enough site for later perusal to last all night!!)

Bring up any article, and in the very last line on the web page, there's the word "Permissions". Please click on it for policy.
