I found this... Email Notification of Reply If you reply to a post, and then would like to know if someone else replies, check "Email Notification" under Options. To turn it back off, just edit your reply anytime and uncheck the "Email Notification" box. Note: It only effects the topic you were in when you turned it on, you won't get notifications from any others unless you reply to them (and turn it on). on here... http://www.pianoworld.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?/topic/19/16.html Man, everytime I turn around there's like ten new replies. I'm getting dizzy.

Bbobb, Welcome. I've been here as long as I've been there. No, there is no "Bernhard equivalent" here. Bernhard is truly one of a kind, IMO. But we do have "Del" here (one of the few experts who can design and build a piano from the ground up), we have "Larry" (ex-recording artist, ex-piano dealer, ex-piano rebuilder, ex-piano technician, all in one), we have "lb" (I don't really know his history, except that he seems very plugged-in to the piano manufacturing industry all over the world). I have come to think that "PianoWorld.com" truly excels in talking piano hardware/manufacturing/maintenance/shopping strategy while "PianoForum.net" excels in talking piano music/technique/pedagogy. And, every once in a while, we have some very intelligent and very thoughtful discussions on profound subjects and current events in the Coffee Room that are not related to music. And, yes, it's much more active here... some people seem to make zillions of posts an hour... so that "notification" thing just might fill up your e-mail boxes way too frequently if you turn it on. Have fun.

Welcome, BBobb! I just tip-toed over to your home planet for the first time. I like it there; the black background is very calming, and the members are surprisingly familiar... David

Yo Bbob, Welcome to the REAL dark side. Seriously, on a good day, the forums have 300 folks circulating at one time. If a hot topic goes up in one of the forums, you may hit four pages of replies in less than an hour. So the best way is to just check in often. Very few of us really bite, and then we mostly just gum you...

Welcome Bbob. I must confess that I've visited pianoforum to look at Bernhard's advice. I hope they don't revoke my membership for just taking a peek. Jon

Welcome, BBobb. A recent Roper survey found that 73% of Piano World members believed very strongly that they were not alone in the universe, and that there must be intelligent life and other piano forums somewhere else. The same survey also found that 81% of Piano World members said that proof of such other life forms would not significantly alter their religious beliefs, and a whopping 98% said it wouldn't alter their political affiliation. The other two percent just kept asking, "can't we all just get along?!!" Just over 52% said that they believed that there was a huge government conspiracy to cover up evidence of other intelligent life (as if the jury were actually in on themselves), and 3% said that they were actively involved personally in probing the universe for other life forms and other forums. This is an adjusted number - the actual survey indicated 55%, but the number was adjusted to account for sock puppets.
It's good to finally have proof that finally answers the question once and for all.
Hope you stick around. Piano World is a fun place, usually. And it can be addictive - why, even when people swear they're leaving and just want to be left alone, they can't seem to tear themselves away from the place, and keep posting or lurking.
