The great New York Jewish Christmas tradition is Chinese on Christmas Eve and a movie on Christmas day. It makes sense. The Chinese restaurants are open, and Christmas is the one day in NYC when you can get into a movie without waiting on line. The goyim are home, you can have the theatre to yourselves. Is anyone celebrating Christmas in this traditional Jewish way?

Not to be PC, but we prefer to be referred to as "gentiles." I'm Episcopalian, and you can call us "God's Frozen People."

As far as the Chinese and movie thing, I've done that. Come home from last minute Christmas eve shopping, ordered Chinese, went off to midnight mass, made big dinner the next day, and watched a movie or so while it was cooking.

That's kind of the same, anyway.

Growing up nearby in NJ, I was always wishing we could do that!

But we did drive into the city after presents and and dinner to see the windows at JM Town, Sack's etc. Plenty of parking and not too big a crowd. laugh

Oo, but a good shumai sounds really good about now...

We've just had our traditional Xmas Eve curry. We have the rest in the morning for breakfast! Hey, don't knock it until you've tried it! wink

We've done this too Aaaron (also with the movie) - It's a good tradition (and we're not Jewish). Actually my favorite food is Indian on Christmas eve with leftovers Christmas morning ....

I know they're cooking up a some gourmet fixins on another thread, but admittedly, tonight we're simply having pizza -- we like it !!

We usually go out for Chinese, but this year we're staying in for shabbos dinner.

We went to a Chinese buffet this morning. Might go see a movie tomorrow. We often do on Christmas day.

Thank you. Of course, I shouldn't be using the computer on shabbos, but oh well. That's why we have Yom Kippur. wink

I'm not Jewish, but saw the last show of "A Very Long Engagement" (from the Amelie folks) Christmas day. Loved the sparsely populated theater!

Reminds me of some friends we have who live in Alaska... their Jewish congregation calls themselves the "Frozen Chosen." laugh laugh laugh
