I don't know if anyone here has had the opportunity to visit a presidential museum, but I would encourage any of you who get the chance to do it. I visited the Gerald Ford museum a few years ago and it was a *lot* better than I thought it was going to be. Very interesting.

Now, in addition to everything else it has, the Reagan Library and Museum will house Reagan's primary Air Force One 707, and visitors will have access to the exterior and interior of the plane!

If I ever make it to California for a visit, The Ronald Reagan Library and Museum will be on the top of my list of places to see.

Operation Homeward Bound nears completion. SAM 27000 makes a tight turn as it heads to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, where it will be on display to the public at the end of 2004.

And we think it's a big deal when we get our pianos moved!

I believe that was the same Air Force One captained for an number of years by fellow Masontown, PA native Lester McClelland. His mother was our local postmistress for many years.

I've been to the Reagan Library several times. I encourage everyone to go, even if they are not big Reagan fans (I wasn't at the time of his presidency either). For one, it's got a HUGE piece of the Berlin wall, which is worth the trip alone. Also, because dignatories from all over the world bestow incredible gifts on the president, it is like a museum specializing in global arts. Well, I guess that surfboard given by students at Pepperdine University wouldn't necessarily be called an "art!"

The reproduction of the Oval Office is also supposed to be very authentic. I can't vouch for that.

If you ever do visit, swing by Yorba Linda and I'll take you to the Nixon Library. It's only a few blocks away from here; built on the site where the little house he grew up in still stands.

Nixon was not my favorite president, but the library is spectacular - as a museum, as a piece of architecture and as a lesson in emotion manipulation through skillful arrangement of artifacts. I won't let you in on all of the secrets, but you will notice that the room where the Watergate memorabilia is shown is some 10 degrees colder than the rest of the library. It's brilliantly done - and very effective.

They're in the process of adding a huge new wing on it right now, so you may want to wait until next Spring or so.
