No comment on who got voted off last night?

I thought for sure it was going to be Mikalah but was pleasantly surprised when it was the other girl (Christine). She has a habit of picking lousy songs for her to sing. Looking back, I don't think it was the worst performance of Tuesday night, but it definitely was the weakest. IMHO.

I'm getting bored with American Idol this time.

Erm... its Britney. Not that I am a fan... I think she sounds like Mikey Mouse.

I have not been following AI because I was away for a month (no American TV) and did not catch the earlier elimination rounds, but I did see Anwar's segment this week and I thought he has an amazing voice. There is a clarity and resonance I have not heard in any other AI contestant; sort of like Broadway, but not quite. When other contestants try for crescendo and drama, they just come out sounding forced and harsh, but Anwar's big sounds are really well controlled.

It was kind of a snooze, really. There were so many people who were vulnerable. It will be a month before some hearts really get broken.

Darn Nadia.

She even looks great with her hair pulled back.

No.

Fair.

Nadia is going to win. I watched Bo last night, he's arrogant with no personality. Nadia is a knock-out, with a great voice, nice personality and no attitude.

Sorry Cindy, but I bet you'd get Nadia a run for her money (at least in the looks department).

Why the interest? None of the winners will be the next Elvis, or Madonna, or whatever. They do not perform original music, even if they have written their own stuff, it's not featured, and probably never will. American Karaoke Party is what it should be called.

Mikhalah's got to go, and she strikes me as a rather spoiled child that's used to always getting what she wants, so when it (inevitably) happens, it should be interesting to see how she handles it.

With regards to Tuesdays lackluster performances, I thought some of the blame should be put on whoever did the arrangements. "Knock on wood" reminded me of what Lawrence Welk use to do Benny Goodman. Real Squaresville. And The Everly Brothers tune ("When will I be loved"?)sounded like a Marching Band. Just because you have 14 pieces dosen't mean you have to used them ALL THE TIME! And while I'm ranting, who picks these tunes. I mean you have to do a song from the 60's, so ok you want to do a Bacharch/David number, but why pick one that never made it past 71 on the charts. And what about the Beatles? Weren't they around in the 60's. Sorry, but I feel better, thanks for listening

I agree about the arrangements, Knock on Wood sucked but it was a combination of the arrangement and the singer - she wouldn't have been able to pull it off even with the right arrangement.

The performers pick the songs as far as I know.

The girl who sang "When Will I Be Loved" tried to imitate Linda Rondstadt's version with poor orchestration. Perhaps "marching band" does describe it.

I don't know why, but I like Mikahal. But you are right, she will go. And when she does go, I bet she stomps off the stage.

Speaking of getting voted off, how do they expect these poor kids to perform after they've been eliminated?

Luke's Dad, they did sing an original number last night - all of them together. As far as none of them being the next Elvis or Madonna to that I say "Thank you Lord"!

I don't know why, but I really like that show. As some of you remember I also "confessed" to liking disco music a while back, so perhaps that explains it.

All I have to say for now is that Alex and Mikalah should both be voted off at the same time. Honestly, terrible!

I agree with Bill G.! My wife watches AI and I so I catch bits and pieces. There are sooo many great songs from the 60's and early 70's. The panelists are always bitchin' about the performers "playing it safe", so why don't they wise up and knock off the Neil Sedaka/Dionne Warwick/crap. There are plenty songs by the legends of rock. How about belting out "Gimme Shelter, or a good Allman Bros. blues song. Give "Layla" a shot! The girls need to let loose with some Janice Joplin or Chrissy Hynde and stop trying to sound like Aretha or Whitney Houston...

I was thinking about all the great 60s songs too and wondering why more interesting songs weren't picked. Things like Aaron Neville's "Tell It Like It Is" or Lesley Gore's "You Don't Own Me" -- both of those songs sound just as fresh today as they did 40 years ago.

I like the show, and I've watched from the begining, but I've always found song selection odd. The cynic in me thinks it has to do with the producers relationship with BMG.

There is an approved songlist that the singers must pick from. It only has the songs that the producers are licensed to use, and from what I understand, it's rather limited. That's why, if you've watched from the beginning, you hear the same songs over and over - there's only so many songs on the list that can really show off what a singer can do, and they tend to get picked over and over...and over....
