Here's my secret for moving books: Spend a couple of years drinking only one brand of beer. The beer must be in 12-packs of 12-ounce bottles. Save ALL the boxes.

After a couple of years, you should have several dozen small boxes all the same size. Pack your books. None of the boxes will be too heavy, and nothing makes loading a moving van easier than having all the boxes the same size.

It worked for me.

Advice from my doctor: For paperbacks, you should chew each page at least 35 times. For hardcovers, at least 45 times. Stay away from coffee-table books, and - for heavens sake - avoid travel books with fold out maps.

do what I do and lend them to friends and ask that they return them when they're done...no more books to move.

8 boxes in my recent move were scores and books.

Some were heavier than my 32-inch TV. frown
