I voted for Kerry and supported the Democrats in their effort to get out the vote. However, for every liberal nutjob we found to vote for Kerry, you guys found a conservative wacko to vote for Bush. So in the end, it appears the state by state results will be almost identical to 2000. This time it's Ohio that's not done counting, but Bush's lead is IMO insurmountable.

So, my candidate lost. Your man won. And with more people voting than have ever before voted in an election, OUR President was elected.

I humbly bow to the will of the people...

Dan

I'm not going to gloat, though I'm very, very pleased (and relieved!). But I do want to say thanks to Dwain, wherever you are ...

Dwain,
On behalf of all the people who voted for Bush in a Kerry state, please accept and share my sincere thanks to your entire state. It's not close enough. Someone should get Kerry a set of glasses. The writing IS on the wall.

And great job everyone. All the pundits concluded that a massive turnout would be bad for Bush. Wrong again. It's not a landslide, but it's a solid win. And the more voter participation, the better, no matter what the result, right?

Finally, last time, Bush didn't get the populist vote. So it's fair to say his popularity has only increased. I look forward to the next four years!

Dan, thanks for a good post.

I honestly believed that Bush would win, but the polls on Monday looked as though Kerry would pull it off.

I was completly ready to say "Congratulations Kerry, you won fair and square. Now lets unite under our president."

Luckily I didn't have to say that, but I do appreciate your post. I wish all Americans would have that mindset, no matter their political affiliation.

Perhaps that's the best thing to come out of the close race. Hope they all continue voting in the future.

The day the democrats start adopting Dan's attitude is the day they start strengthening the party.

Count me in as a democrat who is really annoyed with his party. Obama is looking good, and I'm very happy about Claire McCaskill's showing in my home state of Missouri. It's also good to see Lynch (almost) winning NH.

I only hope the Democrats will get over their whining fast and start looking for a strong, electable leader in 2008. (In other words, NOT Hillary.)

I'll say congratulations to the Republicans too.

The Dems followed their game plan and executed it. New voters and Dems turned out. Our ground game was what it needed to be, and the legal challenges made sure the rules were clear and were followed from the get-go, based on what I saw in PA.

The Republicans won anyway because they were able to find just as many people who wanted things to stay as they are. The people voted, they wanted more Bush. They shall have more Bush.

It's OK, if that's what people really want. And it seems that it is.

Cindy,

Hope you had a good experience. Welcome back.

Dan,
Glad you set the right tone. Pretty much what I think: "The People Have Spoken" and all that.

Hope there are better choices - on both sides - next time.

Thanks Dan! But, I think the correct terms are "Right-wing nutjob" and "Liberal wiener". laugh

I'll say one thing for Kerry and all his supporters - they worked their tails off and it was a good fight. I'm just grateful we don't have a long drawn-out court battle to go through like last time. Very grateful! Good job, everyone!

Yes, congrats to the Bush supporters here. The people have spoken and I must say it is nice to see the popular vote and the electoral vote end up on the same side so we don't have another situation like last election. There is no disputing who the majority of America wants as their president for the next four years.

My hope and prayers go out, that Bush is able to leave office having completed the goals he set forth for both terms.

Another positive of this election was voter turnout...a great success story that I hope continues to build and increase the awareness of how important it is to vote in our elections.
