What do you guys think of the newly proposed steroid abuse policy announced this week?

Baseball steroid policy

I agree with the quote from the Fort Lauderdale paper: "Even with five strikes, you're not out for good?" —Sun-Sentinel, Fort Lauderdale.

Do you think it will make any difference? Do you think steroids should be allowed in baseball? (Heck, if they want to be bald, multimillionaire sterile arthritics, shouldn't we just let them?)

Nina (who thinks Barry Bonds is guilty as they come in this regard)

OK, now you've got me going! laugh

It is an absolute disgrace what Bonds and others are doing to the game of baseball. To break hallowed records held by people like Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron because they are using illegal substances is disgusting!

When Bonds says he didn't know his personal trainer was giving him a steroid creme but fails to express any outrage over said trainer's behavior just what kind of fools does he take us all for? His trainer was giving him $3,000 a month worth of free drugs on his measly salary? And when Barry finds out it doesn't even bother him? Yeah right. Lyin', cheatin' scum!

Barry Bonds and all the rest of the juiced up scum bags can kiss my Randy Moss! mad

I just want Selig to get kicked out. He should be more strict on steroids (and this doesn't do much). And for Heaven's sake, do something about the purchasing power of the Yankees and every other team stealing valuable players!

I'm no Selig fan but the drug problems in baseball aren't his fault. It's the union that would rather see some of these guys die rather than potentially get suspended or kicked out of the game. Which, in my opinion, would stop a lot of players/kids from even going down that road.

Steve Howe was suspended something like seven times. Daryl Strawberry more than that I believe. It's a joke. Neither of them got their lives straigtened out. Didn't need to. Baseball would always take them back. Doesn't help the person, doesn't help the sport. Lose-lose.

Baseball is about as boring as golf to watch on TV. No! Make that more boring than golf to watch on TV. Going to a baseball game is different. It's still boring as heck but at least you get that "ballpark experience"

I could care less what these severely overpaid idiots do.

John McCain wants to make a federal case of it?

Give me a break.

Baseball sucks.

I believe in a level playing field. The only way to achieve that is through mandatory steroid implementation. No roids, no play. laugh

And markjpcs is right, baseball sucks. I'll add that most sports do, so who cares really. Let the jocks juice up to their hearts' discontent if that's what they want.

How anyone believes that Bonds, Giambi or McGwire got those Popeye forearms by simply "doing some extra reps in the off-season" is beyond me.

How stupid do they think we are? I think they should take away everyone's record once they've been ID'd as steroid users.

I mean if Maris gets an asterisk? Puhleez.

Nina, I tried to find a story (which I couldn't wink ) I read recently about a kid who played at USC a few years ago. He regularly studied films of Bonds and immediately recognized when Barry put on 30 lbs of muscle in 3 months that is was steroids. Well he dicided that if Barry needed them at his level then this kid surely need them at his. The kid was a marginal pro prospect.

The kid went on to use them, got caught, did not get signed to play pro ball and killed himself at age 24. While I will be the first one to say we are all responsible for out own actions there is no doubt that kids emulate what they see pros do. The leagues and the unions have got to step up and stop it. NOW!
