Years ago I got a chance to examine a self-pumped 2-stop organ in a historical museum in the Hartford, CT area. It had a single retractable keyboard, an 8' closed rank and a 4' open rank with downward range limited to F2 making it even more compact. The key channels of the slider windchest appeared to have been routed out of a thick block (built up of planks?) Below the windchest and keyboard were the reservoir (with wind gauge) and the single feeder, pumped by the player through a long cast-iron lever.

In 1971 while touring small castles in southern England I saw in a chapel an outwardly similar organ. Maybe someone else has seen one of these minimalistic church organs elsewhere?

This might be similar to one I played in Germany this summer at a Franciscan friary.

Thank you for the picture links. I saw a similar organ at Harvard, made by Taylor & Boody. But the organ I remember stood about 6 or 7 feet tall, and had only two ranks.The front was decorated with carved wood bas-reliefs of pipes.
