If you are interested in the new Yamaha CP300, Stephen Fortner has a positive review of the CP300 in the October issue of Keyboard Magazine.

I'd be interested in finding a single netagive review in that magazine smile Or other magazines, for that matter. Sometimes, these reviews are even payed commercials.

Understand. However, it is one more data point on the improved feel of the keyboard - similar to what others are saying.

you could always go over to Here or here its the same idea on both click on manufacturer then look for you model number.

These are peoples own opinions on the boards and pianos. If you look at harmony central (the top link) under farfisa then f1 you will see my review.

It was from these reviews and contacting some of the reviewers that convinced me to buy and older fatar 900 controler this week rather that a a newer sl880 or some of the brand new boards.

hope this helps

Magazines - music, cars - whatever, have to avoid ****ing off their advertisers and so rarely give completely bad reviews. In order to try to appear "fair and blanaced", they'll be sure to mention a few minor things they wish had been done differently - like the location of a car's ashtry, or the position of a few knobs on a keyboard. They'll be sure to sandwich heaps of praise before and after their little negative thing. Sometimes you even get the feeling the manufacturer wrote their own review - especially when you see an ad for the item on the next page.

Long time, no posting smile couldn't help not to post the following question, which I haven't seen anyone ask so far.
How does the Yamaha CP-300 compare with the Roland RD-700sx? I saw the "Gold standard" quote from the Keyboard magazine review and I thought that they said the same thing about the RD-700sx a year or so ago.
It'd be great to hear form members of this forum who tried both of them.

Thanks.

Both CP300 and RD-700SX are very good. At that range, I think you would be picking one over the other based on the "voicing" and "tone" of the piano, and not becasue one is inheritanly better than other other.

My current favorite is CP300. It is slightly better than P250, which I would have put it at the same level as RD-700SX. (But talk to a Roland guy, and he will pick RD-700SX over P250 or CP300. Again, it really boils down to whether you prefer Yamaha piano sound or Roland piano sound)

Thanks. I just thought that since the CP-300 is the newer model, that it might have an (obvious) edge over the RD700sx, a much better sample, new technology...etc.

Best.

Wanted to bump this up to 2008.

I'm about ready to buy the CP-300 to upgrade from the P-200 which I've played since 2002. Does anyone else have any experience with this piano, using it in a gigging situation?

I thought the P-250 was lacking in the tone department, being just a little too mushy sounding.

All comments and reviews will be greatly appreciated.

they're basically the same, but the major change from P250 to CP300 is some sound improvment. there're some other minor changes also.

read some here:

Thanks. Sound improvement is what I was looking for. I think I'll go ahead and get it.

The CP-300 just arrived. I'm very impressed with the improvement they made on the string sound and the organ sound. The choir sounds are usable, and the EP sound is also greatly improved, to the point where it is also usable.

The action is far superior to the P-200 I had, and it seems better than the P-250, although I had only played it once. And the grand piano sounds are much better regulated now. The 5-band equalizer helps a great deal.

In short, I'm very happy with it.

Hey there jjtpiano. I see you're in Jamestown. I'm next door in High Point and have a CP-300 that's about a year old. Terrific instrument, imo. Hope you like yours.

Hey, speed. The more I play the CP-300 the better I like it.

I bought a CP300 last year, upgrading from a Roland FP3.
Couple of things I absolutely love about the CP300:

1. Onboard speakers (with on/off switch). Turn the piano on and play, no auxilliary sound system to power up and the soud comes straight from the piano, which brings:

2. I can feel the piano vibrate when I play. OK it's not like having a real grand piano but I find this enjoyable and adds to the experience

3. Playability. I just can't seem to stop playing it, propably because of the above two factors. It's a fun keyboard to either exercise, play or improvise.

4. Action. To me it's the best out there but to each it's own. I love Kawai's action too.

5. Sounds. Very good pianos. I like Mellow Grand the best. Again matter of taste but for me they beat Roland's.

6. MIDI control. It's basic but good enough for my needs. MIDI OUT switch is very useful.

7. Panel lock switch. So I can leave my 3 yr old at the piano and not come back later to find out he upgraded the CP300 firmware wink

I would really like to try the new Kawais but so far the CP300 fulfills all my piano needs.

Another thing,
I really want to try this: use the CP300 as a controller for a sampled piano such as Ivory and run the audio from the latter back into the CP300. The onboard speakers are of good quality (not to be compared to studio monitors though) and I am willing to sacrifice a little of sound quality for resonance and vibrations in the keys.
Am I crazy? help
