I have been looking at the following digital models:

Kurzweil Mark 12i (new)
Kurzweil Mark 5 (used)
Yamaha P200 (new)
Yamaha PF500 (new)
Yamaha PF1000 (new)

What Iím really looking for is top quality piano sounds with the best possible action in a case thatís presentable in a living room. Iím not interested in the bells and whistles that these units come with. IMO, I feel the vendors load these units up for mass appeal.

Please comment on any experiences with the above instruments or comparable units. Iím still swaying between a high quality digital and a refurbished Yamaha U3 or U5 acoustic, but like the aspect of headphone use on the digitals.

Thanks in advance, Tony

Whatever you do, you might want to wait a few weeks. The NAMM show is next week in Los Angeles. This is where these manufacturers unveil all their new products. Sometimes these products are ready to ship and hit the stores almost immediately. Other times we may not see the actual product for months. But either way it is likely to affect your situation. If one of the keyboards you're looking at is being replaced, the price is likely to drop dramatically. And of course there may be a newer/superior model coming your way soon as well.

I'm sure there will be several reports on this board after the show as to what comes out. I probably won't get over to the consumer keyboards next week so I won't be much help. But I'll post anything I see in the pro keyboards that's cool.
