I believe the P140 is the update of the P60. 14 voices, 2 x 6w speakers, 64 notes polyphony doesn't sound like a new P120.

According to this site, this appears to be a Yamaha P140. (It's obviously a totally different animal, although it appears to be identified as a Yamaha P140 stereo grand piano. Note wheels on LH side, etc.)

The picture that raindogxx shows above looks like the one that was on the Yamaha site yesterday.

well, whatever it is supposed to be an update of, I think the price $1499 might be asking too much. I think the p120 is a better deal.

Hmmm, i know where you are coming from, but i am not so sure. If this truly is an update of the P60, it is over-priced dramatically.
Perhaps the P140 is a manafacturers update of the P120(cheaper to produce), rather than a retail upgrade, it would sure explain a lot.
But IMO the P120 didn't need an upgrade, they are still selling very well and beat competing Roland models hands down.

The pic seems to be wrong...you can see the actual p140 on P140 promo brochure at yamaha US site.

Not to doubt an opinion if that is how your observation was offered, just questioning your frame of reference? By beating Roland hands down, do you mean saleswise, use on pro stages, studios etc....

I played ROLAND's new RD700sx , The "Superior Grand" piano sound is really awesome! Best piano sound made by ROLAND. IMO it's better than the main piano sound in P120 in many ways. I think YAMAHA should put the 4 layers sample piano sound in high level of CLP series into new P series. It would be great if P140 use GH3 keyboard.

Well, to me, the P120 is head and shoulders above the FP2, RD-170 and RD-300SX. Those 3 Roland stage pianos are in direct competition with the P120 as they are in the same price bracket. IMO the Piano sample beats the lot and the action is much nicer. I don't know how well the Roland boards are selling, but i know the P120 is still selling rather well.
Please note that this is my personal oppinion.

While it looks very similar, the photo posted by gryphon is not a P250. However (pure speculation here), could it be a P250 replacement? At this point, I'm totally confused on the P140. Can't find any reference to it on Yamaha's U.S. site.

Did some searching...the picture from the info.audio.hc360.com site appears to be a P-300 and not a new model.

Just a few thoughts...

I'm not yet convinced that the P140 is a replacement for the P120. The P120 has done very well in several applications, especially as a stage piano. However, the P140 brochure shows a very limited back panel interface as compared to the P120 (e.g., single AUX OUT only, no "TO HOST" connector). Additionally, there is no USB interface - something the P250 currently has and a feature long desired for the P120. Unless Yamaha is targeting the P140 at a different market, it doesn't seem to be a very versatile stage piano.

Sorry for the rambling...hopefully the P140 pricing will yield more insight.

I talked to Yamaha Germany.

The P140 is the update fo the P120. It has the same amount of sample ROM but a better compression mechanism, meaning more samples at the same amount of ROM.

The whole board looks quiet disapointing to me. First a thought it would be a P60 update.
