Ok well I have been looking at digital pianos for some time now and man is there a lot of them out there. It is so hard to make a decision, especially for someone who doesn't like to make them in the first place. Just a little background: I was a music major in college and dropped out 1 semester before I was supposed to graduate(stupid me), anyway my main instrument was trombone, but I did also take piano lessons in college. Over the years I haven't played much but I would now consider myself back at the beginner stage. My daughter who is seven has taken my musical interest and wants to play the piano, so I am teaching her for awhile until she gets a little older. I have a piano now and I have no idea what it is, but it is horrible. I bought it in college to use for practice at home for $200. Well now 10 years later it is out of tune and basically has several keys that do not work, so I am opting for the digital route since I can't afford and expensive acoustic and I will never again buy a cheap one. Also, the digitals are quiet, which is good since I have 2 other children and a wife that doesn't like me banging on the piano.

Now thats the background and this is what I am looking for.

i have looked at the Korg C720 online, but I don't see much info about it on forums or anywhere for that matter. I do like Korgs, we have a TR88 at church which I love, but I don't need the workstation at home. I do like the action of the rh3 that it has. So basically its not the action I need to know about.

What do you think about this instrument??? Does it sound good??? Is it worth $1800??

I have also looked at the Kawai CE200, but haven't been able to play it since no dealers around here have them.

What to buy?? What is the better choice?? Any information would be great.

I just want to know what is the better bang for my buck??
If there is something else out there better than these 2 let me know. I do not won't a portable piano, only console. I am also not a fan of the cheaper yamahas.

Thanks,

Jason

I guess this must be considered a bad purchase since no one has played this instrument.

Thanks

Hi

It's not easy getting info on the Korg smile I was looking into a C-520 that was a showroom model with a good discount, but I had to order it without trying it, so I checked these forums aswell without much reply. I went for the Roland HP203 after comparing it with the Yamaha.

I can only tell what I've read from magazine reviews and what different sales person(3) told me. 2 of them preferred Yamaha and the third didn't have any preference. Basically they said that they didn't like the plastic feel/touch of the Korg compared to Roland/Yamaha, but if you a familiar with the touch that shouldn't be the problem. Actually I would have gone for the Korg I think if they wasn't for their negative comments about the key feel. I wanted a piano and they said the Korg was a little more "keyboard".

Anyway the sound of the Korg is supposed to be very good. All pianos have different sounds and some prefer one to the other, but the Korg supposed to have a powerfull sound(good speakers) compared to competing brands in same price range as far as I can tell.

I've read a couple of magazine reviews about the Korg C320/520/740 and they all got nothing but high praise. On pictures I also think Korg has the nicest look to it if that means anything.

Hope this helps. I can always try I find where I've seen the reviews if you are interested?

Cheers
