I am in the market for a portable (since I travel by car frequently) 64 key DP with a few voices (not a lot of bells and whistles) AND has an acoustic piano "feel" to the keys.

Was also considering the Yamaha NP30 for its lightweight and portability, but it is 88 keys and quite lengthy.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Rick

You'd have a hard time finding fully-weighted 61-key [which is what I think you mean] keyboards;

but there are several semi-weighted keyboards you could consider.

I own an M-AUDIO Keystation 61es. Its semi-weighted, but is very cheap and I can't fault it

Nord makes a 76-key model (Clavia Stage 76) that's portable (36 lbs) and has fully weighted hammer-action keys, but it seems to be expensive and may have a lot of features you don't need. May be worth checking out, though.

Rick:

The Yamaha NP30 is not a weighted keyboard - in fact, having played one its action is really awful - in the same league as the infamous M-Audio ProKeys.

That said, if you're looking for 'abbreviated' fully-weighted action, the less expensive option (relative to the Nord) seems to be the Fatar/Studiologic VMKPlus line - 61-, 76- and 88-key MIDI controllers that are fully-weighted, portable, lightweight and relatively inexpensive.

But that presumes you'll have some sort of sound source to drive - either a Kurzweil micropiano module or similar, or a laptop softsynth like Synthogy's Ivory or Garritan's new Steinway.

Not as convenient as an all-in-one board - but you'll run circles around anything in terms of sound quality.

Yamaha P85 is probably what you are looking for. it has 88 keys, but is a slim model very portable with less than 26 lbs:

A Wurlitzer model 200 electric piano has exactly 64 weighted action wooden keys. You'd have to look for a restored one, because they haven't been manufactured since the late 70's. They are classic/vintage instruments producing a truly unique/recognizable sound (not an acoustic piano) and do require tuning (removing/adding solder from/to the metal reeds that produce the sound) from time to time.
