Hi,

I'm looking for a case for my (heavy!) 88 key Yamaha P250 stage piano. Even though I am going to be using the P250 mostly in my house, I will be taking it out on stage once a month or so. I am going to be carrying it around mostly in a van or in my car, so I don't know if I am going to need those "bulletproof" hard shell cases. Do you think that a soft padded bag is going to be enough protection, or should I get right away a more expensive hard case? Any specific suggestions? Also, what stand would you suggest for playing the P250 in a standing position?

Thanks

Cristian

Hi Cristian,

Perhaps you've already bought a case, but here's some info for you. I also own the P250, and I bought a Gator case (specifically the Gator GK288R 88 key Deluxe ATA Keyboard Case). I didn't want to worry about damaging the piano when I travel with it, so I decided the extra cost of the hard shell case was worth the peace of mind.

I see that in 2005, Gator came out with a tour style keyboard case (built to ATA specifications) that is only $10 more on one website. If you ever plan to fly with it, might be a good option.

P.S. Know that the hard shell case is quite large and it takes some maneuvering to get into a car. So much so, that I bought an SUV last year to accomodate the P250 and some speaker equipment I bought. (It was time to trade in anyway.) I actually brought the P250 and case to car dealerships and tried loading it into different vehicles. (That probably is not a factor in most vehicle purchases!)

As far as stands: I don't ever play standing up. But, I have the Yamaha LG100 stand and it has adjustable legs (height from 26.5" to 31.5")

Hope that helps and good luck!
Curry

ACaPellA,

I think that Yammy makes a gig bag with wheels. I bought my P-200 with one that I think was Yammy. Since sold it, so not certain. That should be enough for occasional use.
