I'm unaware of the technical details and so I wouldn't dare to try and explain it.

In my (admittedly subjective) experience of playing the CLP-380 for about half an hour and the other CLP-3xx for about 3-10 minutes each, side by side on a relatively quiet showroom, mainly through my Sennheiser HD-555's, there is a huge difference.

I would be hard pressed to give you a definition of "huge" though. Let's say I can imagine *not* craving for a good acoustic upright if I had my hands on a 380. smile

I'm new and not technical. I listend to a CLP-240 and by the time I was ready to buy, it was gone and replaced by a CLP-330...I did not get the same feeling about the sound. It does not have DDE which the smart owner says make a difference (from the 330).

Both are the same price, but after reading your forum it seems the 380 is best of the best, how much more is it? The two noted above are 2100 including delivery. But if you had to choose from 240 and 330 which would YOU choose?

Good headphones? I will not be buying speakers...THANKS!!!

The replacement for the CLP240 is the CLP340 not the 330. There is a significant difference between the two. Go check out the 340.

Strictly speaking, you're right ... the 340 has replaced the 240. (And yes, the 340 is better than the 330.)

But from a features/performance standpoint, the 330 has replaced the 240. That is, if you had been wanting a 240 but none were available, you could get nearly the same features/performance from a 330. (Not exactly the same, but close ... and cheaper than a 340.)
