I just received a 61-key rubber keyboard that can be rolled up and carried around in a small bag. It is known as the hand-roll piano, made by Yamano Music in Japan. I hope to be able to bring it with me while travelling so I can get some practice.

I believe the 49-key version is marketed in the US under the brand Hescan. A review of the Hescan keyboard may be found here .

Thanks for the post and the interesting link. The review was very objective in describing the limitations of membrane switches.

The collapsable keyboard was also mentioned. I only wish that someone would make a folding 76 key keyboard which would reduce the length down to something not much longer than a violin. I am almost certain that it would be popular. I saw some toy keyboards fold in different ways but nothing serious out there yet.
